I have never been a person who has been super passionate about exercise or working out and I have to say it’s been such a pleasure having Kaila as my instructor. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I have become a lot more comfortable and confident in my body. Thank you for not only continuously pushing me and making me do moves that are sometimes outside of my comfort zone, but also just being such a positive motivational figure.
Working with Kaila has truly been a highlight of my pregnancy. Kaila thoughtfully curated each session to my changing body and her awareness of pre-natal needs and limitations gave me complete confidence in the program. I was active pre-pregnancy and I am so proud of the results I achieved working with Kaila. My improvement in strength, breathing, and management of pregnancy aches and pains were significant, I am so grateful to KM for helping me take care of my changing body during this journey.
I had suffered from crippling anxiety, fatigue, stomach pain, and irregular periods for years. I accepted that this would be my life until a friend referred me to Lauren. From the beginning, Lauren was a great listener and I truly felt that she cared about helping me out with my health. By following her recommendations and methods, I was able to take back control of my life! I am forever grateful for her.
Lauren helped me start my journey towards hormonal balance in June 2021. I had taken birth control for nearly ten years and stopped cold turkey in September 2020. I was at my lowest point – I had terrible cystic acne on my face and back, irregular periods, poor eating habits, bloating, low energy, mind fog, and an addiction to caffeine. That’s when I decided it was time to turn to a nutritionist and stumbled upon Lauren. Deciding to work with her was the best and easiest decision I’ve ever made.
The Year of You Challenge is a thoughtful curation of Kaila and Lauren's favourite recipes, workouts, journal prompts and self-care activities that they use to sync their lifestyle to their cycle.

What if I don't have a period?
I recommend following the moon’s phases if your period is missing. View the new moon as your period and the full moon as ovulation. Start the first day of your period on the first day of the new moon and end your period five days later. Syncing your cycle this way will give your schedule the cyclical food and self-care structure that will help initiate your body into cycling once again.
What if I am in Menopause? Can I still participate and how would it benefit me?
If you are in menopause, you can still benefit from the recommended food changes and movement support, however, the cyclical way of eating will not be relevant.
How do I find out what phase of my cycle I am in?
The menstrual cycle starts with the first day of your period and ends when the next period begins. One way to recognize where you are in your cycle is to track it with an app like MyFLO: myflotracker.com
What if my periods are irregular?
This guide can be easily adjusted to suit any cycle length. You will need to track your cycle and shift what you’re doing based on what phase you’re in. If you have shorter cycles, spend slightly less than 1 week in each phase, so that the total number of days equals your current cycle length. If you have a longer cycle, you may find you spend more time in one or two of the phases, or you simply spend longer than 1 week in each of them.
What equipment do I need for the Pilates Classes?
All classes will be done using bodyweight only. If you wanted to invest in one piece of equipment for the month I would recommend Bala Bangles.
Are the Pilates classes live or pre-recorded?
The classes are pre-recorded and live in the Year of You portal which you will have access to when the Challenge starts on January 10th, 2022.
